Melissa B is an American singer who comes from Sumter, South Carolina. She presents the latest single "Give it to me", written by D-Sharp.
How did your passion for music start?
My background consists of me starting to sing at the tender age of five years old. I was classically trained in opera. Growing up my parents put me in pageants and that is how I really got the taste of the stage, being in front of people, and being able to perform. My father and my mother both pushed me to live out my dream and to never give up on my goal. As a little girl all I wanted to do was sing! I didn't know how I was gonna get to where I am now but I just kept going and believed in myself. My goals as a little girl were to always share my gift of singing to the world. I have a positive vibration that I want to share with everyone I come in contact with. I always wanted to tour the world and just heal the world with my voice and music.
Who are the singers who influenced you in your musical career?
I’m getting a little sentimental now because growing up I think of Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Prince, Tamia, Celia Cruz, Hector Levoe. These are some of the many great voices and talents that truly inspired the style of music I sing today. I am Afro-Rican (Puerto Rican & Black) or what others call Afro Latina. Since growing up I began listening to R&B music and Salsa in my house.My mother & father encouraged me to listen to everything ever since I was a little girl, that’s what made me want to become a singer that was the turning point that inspired me to get into this industry. It was the dynamics of all of those sounds that I was hearing that made me want to hear and sing music even more.
What were the most significant musical experiences?
The most musical experiences that I have had has always been that I am always surrounded in music. I got to learn from some of the greats people in this business from Jackie Jackson to Ray Parker Jr. I have learned alot from them. I also have learned from Dr. Freeze who has been teaching me alot with structure in creating a song and songwriting.
Can you tell us about your latest single '' Give it to me ''?
My new song “Give it to me” is about just having a good time with your friends. It make you wanna go to the roller rink and skate. Alot of people are starting to take this to the streets roller skating.
What are your plans for the future?
I am currently in the middle of writing a book about the the digital music industry. I am naming the book, "Digitally Independent" to give an insight to future indie artists on how to start their own music label in this digtal music world. I have come across so many artists that don't even know how to become a member of BMI or ASCAP. There are also artists who don't know how to get their music abroad. I wanted to do this because I love helping people and don't want them to have to reinvent the wheel when I have the info to give to my fellow artists.
How do you use the web and social networks for your singer activity?
I mostly use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snow App for my connecting with fans around the world. It helps me cause I am able to share my life on these platforms at all times. I have had alot of new fans find me on instagram because other share my music and hashtag me alot.
How do you see the future of music?
The best part of being an artist at this time is engaging with my fans all over the world. I am able to talk to my fans on social media directly and actually find out in an instant what they like or dislike about what I am doing. Also, it's helping me wanna expand as an artist and think outside the box in order to give my fans a different experience of me.
The internet has help me reachout futher than just the USA to many of my fans. The future of music is more virtual and interaction. That is where we are going.

Come è iniziata la tua passione per la musica?
Ho iniziato a cantare alla tenera età di cinque anni. Sono stato indirizzata classicamente nell'opera. Crescendo i miei genitori mi hanno fatto partecipare a concorsi ed è così che ho davvero avuto il gusto del palco, di essere di fronte alle persone e di essere in grado di esibirmi. Sia mio padre che mia madre mi hanno spinto a vivere il mio sogno e a non mollare mai il mio obiettivo. Da piccola, tutto ciò che volevo era cantare! Non sapevo come avrei potuto arrivare dove sono ora, ma ho continuato ad andare avanti e ho creduto in me stessa. I miei obiettivi di bambina erano sempre condividere il mio dono di cantare al mondo. Ho una vibrazione positiva che voglio condividere con tutti quelli con cui vengo in contatto. Ho sempre voluto girare il mondo e solo guarire il mondo con la mia voce e la mia musica.
Quali sono i cantanti che ti hanno influenzato nella tua carriera musicale?
Sto diventando un po 'sentimentale ora perché crescendo penso a Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Prince, Tamia, Celia Cruz, Hector Levoe. Queste sono alcune delle molte grandi voci e talenti che hanno davvero ispirato lo stile della musica che canto oggi. Sono afro-rican (portoricano e nero) o quello che altri chiamano afro latina. Da quando sono cresciuta ho iniziato ad ascoltare musica R & B e salsa in casa mia. Mia madre e mio padre mi hanno incoraggiato ad ascoltare tutto da quando ero una bambina, è questo che mi ha spinto a diventare un cantante che è stato il punto di svolta che mi ha spinto a entrare in questo settore. Era la dinamica di tutti quei suoni che stavo ascoltando che mi hanno fatto desiderare di sentire e cantare ancora di più.
Quali sono state le esperienze musicali più significative?
Sono sempre circondata dalla musica. Ho imparato da alcune delle persone più importanti in questo settore da Jackie Jackson a Ray Parker Jr. Ho imparato molto da loro. Ho anche imparato dal Dr. Freeze che mi ha insegnato molto, come la struttura nel creare una canzone da songwriting.
Ci parli del tuo ultimo singolo ''Give it to me''?
La mia nuova canzone "Give it to me" parla semplicemente di divertirsi con i tuoi amici. Ti fa venire voglia di andare alla pista di pattinaggio e pattinare. Un sacco di gente sta iniziando a portare questo nelle strade del pattinaggio a rotelle.
Quali sono i tuoi progetti per il futuro?
Attualmente sto scrivendo un libro sull'industria della musica digitale. Sto nominando il libro, "Digitally Independent" per dare un'idea dei futuri artisti indipendenti, su come trovare la propria etichetta musicale in questo mondo di musica digitale. Ho incontrato così tanti artisti che non sanno nemmeno come diventare membri di BMI o ASCAP. Ci sono anche artisti che non sanno come ottenere la propria musica all'estero. Volevo farlo perché amo aiutare le persone e non voglio che debbano reinventare la ruota quando ho le informazioni da dare ai miei colleghi artisti.
In che modo usi il web e i social per la tua attività di cantante?
Per lo più uso Facebook, Instagram, Twitter e Snow App per il mio collegamento con i fan di tutto il mondo. Mi aiuta a essere in grado di condividere la mia vita su queste piattaforme in ogni momento. Ho avuto un sacco di nuovi fan che mi hanno trovato su instagram, perché altri condividono la mia musica e mi scrivono molto.
Come vedi il futuro della musica?
La parte migliore di essere un artista in questo momento è coinvolgere i miei fan in tutto il mondo. Sono in grado di parlare direttamente con i miei fan sui social media e in realtà scoprire in un istante cosa gli piace o non piace di quello che sto facendo. Inoltre, mi sta aiutando a espandermi come artista e a pensare fuori dagli schemi per dare ai miei fan un'esperienza diversa di me. Internet mi ha aiutato ad arrivare, oltre gli Stati Uniti, a molti dei miei fan. Il futuro della musica è più virtuale ed è interazione. È lì che stiamo andando.
