Come ti definiresti oggi?

Stai lavorando a nuovi progetti o registrazioni?

“God is my savior...music is my life” - Interview with an American artist, producer and audio engineer Sonny King

Sonny King lives the music at 360 degrees, as an artist, producer and sound engineer. Its mission is to make music known anywhere in the world.

You said “God is my savior...music is my life”. How did your music career start ? How did you find that music was your venue?

God has always placed someone in my life to guide me or help me on my path. I found music when I was 7 or 8 years old. While playing down my Uncles house I saw a old case in his closet with a shiny gold thing in it. He told me it was a saxophone his oldest daughter used to play. On my birthday he gave it to me along with some old records of a very popular saxophonist called Junior Walker and the Allstars. I’ve been in love with music ever since.

You started as musician, playing with a variety of groups as drummer and pianist, you are a sound Engeneer, producer and artist. How would you define yourself today ? Where do you feel the best strength?

Today I feel like l’m still a jack of all trades. I have been blessed to work in almost every area of music. I make all the music for my songs as the producer, I write the lyrics as a artist and I record , mix and master my songs as the engineer. I feel like my strength is the combination of abilities I have that make my sound unique. I am very thankful to be able to continue using every skill I have learned over the years.

How did the cooperation with Pietro Nannucci and Music for Love for We still have a Dream started. Would you like to tell us?

Again God always places great people in my life. I work as a audio engineer and music producer at Skymount Studios in North Carolina. The founder of Music For Love Franco Nannucci came by looking for a original song inspired by “Birdland" to help promote his charity. I produced the music and wrote the chorus and verse and his son Pietro added his verse and the rest is history!

Are you working at new projects or recordings?

Yes I actually have a new album coming out soon called “Lost in the Music” that’s going to feature a new single for Music for Love. I’m thankful and excited for the world to hear what we have been working on.

What would you suggest to a young artist that would like to do a formative experience in the USA?

I would tell any new artist to first concentrate on finding your sound and perfecting your craft as a musician/artist and stay consistent. Next I would utilize the internet and research the many different ways to get your music out to the world like music blogs and websites like you guys that support artist and review our music! Last is to get out and make as many connections as possible , perform and at all the shows you can. Give out some free samples of your work to help build a buzz.

How the web and social media should be used according to you, to have more opportunities, get more visible and get to be better known?

The internet is filled with so many options for independent artist it is critical to use every option you can find. Research blogs and websites who will review your work or post your music on their page. Some will charge but many don’t because they are looking for new content all the time. Social media is a great way to reach new fans who can’t wait to share a new song they love. Post your songs on sites like Soundcloud and audio mack that can help you get streams and new fans. These are just scratching the surface of what you can find online.

How important are studying and talent to make a career in the music world ? Do you think there is dominant of the two?

I believe that both are equally important the old saying goes “Hard work beats talent only when talent doesn’t work hard''. Having talent can get you noticed but continuing to mold that talent can make you great and open doors for you throughout your career.

How do you see the music’s future?

I truly believe music will always continue to evolve it is truly one of the last true forms of magic on earth. Humans will always be in love with sound and the future looks amazing. Technology is expanding the way we listen to music but nothing can replace a great voice or a amazing musician.
